Knowledge Computing Corporation Introduces Dashboard
to Further Extend COPLINK® within the Law Enforcement
Continuum
TUCSON, AZ - November 5, 2008 --- Knowledge
Computing Corporation (KCC), makers of the award winning
COPLINK Solution Suite ®, today announced a new module
called Dashboard®. This and several other new technology
offerings from the software company will be unveiled in
San Diego at the 2008 International Association of
Chiefs of Police Conference (IACP), November 9-11.
COPLINK Dashboard is a management and notification
module that migrates real time data streams, such as
Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), into a configurable
interface. Dashboard goes beyond traditional CAD
reporting tools by including alert and geographic
monitoring features, as well as allowing multiple
simultaneous views of a region.
Dashboard will allow a managing officer to set a
notification alert when a threshold of calls for service
is reached in a certain area within a set amount of
time. The area and time specifications are chosen by the
user and multiple alert thresholds may be set with a
variety of parameters. "For example, a commander may
want to monitor burglaries that occur within two hours
of each other inside the boundaries of a particular
beat," explains KCC Director of Engineering, William
Oliver. "In the event the threshold set for this area is
reached, perhaps three burglaries within 6 hours, the
commander will be notified. This feature will allow
officers, in this example a watch commander, to know in
real time when and where additional resources may be
needed."
In addition to the alert capability, Dashboard has
configurable panels that simultaneously display
dispatches in a variety of ways including: a categorical
analysis chart that lists call types according to UCR
dispatch codes, such as aggravated assault, domestic
violence and robbery; a scrolling log that shows type of
call, time of call, and location of incident, all in the
form of text; and a GIS mapping panel that shows
dispatches graphically by plotting each call
geospatially.
"Being aware of dangerous
situations at their onset is imperative to law
enforcement," said Robert Fund, Lieutenant Tucson Police
Department (RET) and COPLINK Product Manager. "Dashboard
will allow our clients to view dispatches graphically
and in real time. This is critical not only from a
command standpoint regarding resource deployment and
preparedness, but also for the security of responding
officers and the surrounding community."
Dashboard will be deployed as an enhancement to the full
COPLINK Solution Suite. COPLINK provides unparalleled
analysis and decision support for rapidly identifying
criminal suspects, relationships and crime patterns. It
works by allowing vast quantities of structured and
seemingly unrelated data, currently housed in various
incompatible databases and records management systems,
to be securely organized, consolidated and rapidly
analyzed over a highly secure intranet-based platform.
Knowledge Computing
Corporation CEO Robert Griffin said, "COPLINK software
addresses the needs of officers at every stage of the
Law Enforcement Continuum. We have expanded our support
of this concept by creating and offering Dashboard. For
over ten years and 1600 deployments our mission at KCC
has remained the same: stay focused on client-driven
solutions and provide top quality performance
enhancement tools. Along with several other new modules
that we will be demonstrating at IACP, Dashboard is
another example of our commitment to every phase of
local, regional and national security."
